There are two systems of trophy evaluation:
The system of the International Council for Game and Wildlife Conservation (CIC). Today it is used in many countries of the World, including Russia, but the evaluation criteria for Asian species and subspecies of trophy animals (like Siberian roe deer, Altai wapiti, Manchurian wapiti and Sika deer) are rather poorly developed for our country, because the expert board lacked proper statistic data. The system is based on three basic concepts: typicality, symmetry, natural beauty.
Trophy evaluation system of Safari Club International (SCI) was established in 1977 by the founder and director of the SCI C.J. McElroy in collaboration with trophy record committee of the club. The system treats the trophy exclusively as an object of thorough measurements excluding the symmetry, typicality, without any bonus scores for the beauty as well as any allowances for malformations.
